Literature Text
He's trying hard not to sleep
While tears pour down his face,
For he's scared of that final beat
Of his heart against his hand.
Smells of smoke fill the air,
And he makes himself look 'round.
The gun's still tossed away,
Lying silent on the ground.
A sob bubbles in his chest
And he lets out a silent cry.
He's tired, but will not rest,
For he's afraid to die.
He lies there in the rain.
Blood and water soak his skin.
His vision starts to blur,
And he begins to cry again.
This time he's not silent,
And a light is shined upon him.
He hears a shout for help,
And then telephones are calling.
He hears the sirens wailing
When the ambulance arrives.
But now his heart is failing,
His soul crawling towards the skies.
He's put onto a stretcher,
And then loaded into the van.
The bystanders are watching,
Hoping he gets a chance.
The doctors start their rushing
To try and save him fast,
But they know that he's fading,
And that he might not last.
It ended in the ambulance,
With the boy as his eyes grew dim.
He let out a shuddering breath,
And then never breathed again.

self worth
Wanting for nothing
this budding rose
ready to wilt
along the stripped creek.
She's an arm's length
away, her taint some exposed
cove braving the sea
carved against the grain
of turning oceans.

Emotion Roulette
I can't take much more.
I feel temper come up.
Ready to be released.
I compact it down.
I feel the sadness under it.
Always present, never waning.
It makes it hard to cope.
I work until I collapse.
Not an easy way of life.
A choice of emotions
Numbness or feeling?
The answer isn't as obvious.
They both come and go.
I'm a lost cause.
It's time for the event.
Emotion roulette!
What is the dial going to chose?
Tick, tick, tick
Ah, it stopped.
Tears form.
Of course.
Sadness.
It is.
Literature
Storm
STORM
You threaten, "You won't do it."
Lightning flashes across my mind:
The storm is coming.
Fearful tears blur my vision.
Lightning flashes across my mind,
Filling me with defiance.
Angry tears blur my vision.
Rain pelts down around us,
Filling me with defiance.
Your threats are harmless, like wisps of cloud.
Rain pelts down around us.
Thunder fills your voice, but
Your threats are harmless, like the rain.
You watch storm clouds gather in my eyes.
Thunder fills your voice, but
I turn away unafraid.
You watch storm clouds gather overhead.
You say, "You won't do it."
I walk away, unafraid:
The storm is coming.
