- these birds have become unravelled, unrivaled in their adamant grace
of piercing nocturne gazes.
the raven caws, quietly clawing
out the eyes of evergreen
children; peter pan has come and gone, but
he will not fly, featherless, falling.
these flocks are the genesis of genocide, rallying the rivalry
of those left out to die -
take an iris as a souvenir,
green-eyed boys turned crimson;
the raven goes a-knocking -
murder sounds for those who listen.

but the stars are too loud to hear them
it's a summer night again. i think
it has been a million years since i lived
through a summer night.
everything is so much louder in summer,
the windows thrown wide and the whole world
shouting, echoing up from the street,
and that screaming aching space between the window pane
and my heart, where
the late scent of lilacs
burrowed, where your hands clawed at the glass
and i let you in
with the breeze and the laughing
cinquefoil faces.
where is the dull neglectable roar,
washed away in the sweet tides of everything blooming,
new colors crying out for the stars
to fall on their petals,
and lift them up,
and let them in
to the bleak brightness

polaroids showcased in
empty exhibitions).
and it's futile
exorcising
my heart of
your remnants
(because all
graveyards need
ghosts to
haunt them).

Yesterday I Heard the Rain
Yesterday I easily danced on the stars
one foot landing steadily on the next destination while still in mid flight from last step. Yesterday I was powerful. Or, was that really yesterday and not just an illusion or trick of my mind? Can one be sure? The simple minded fellow will argue the point yes or no. The philosopher will examine the merits and meaning of the question. The scientist will try to quantify the question and establish methods for proving his theory. But the one in love just smiles and is grateful to have had a yesterday and today with her lover and believes there is hope for a bright tomorrow.
Today I have no power. I a

This was inspired by a lovely contest introduced by Lissomer and which can be found here:
You have to use six of the listed words in your poem, and there can be two entries a person. I thought it was a great idea, so I took a crack at it, using the following words: unraveled, genesis, adamant, nocturne, souvenir, evergreen, and crimson.
You should all definitely check it out before it's over on the 15th of May!

01.05.2015 - Quickfire Wordcloud Contest!Well, hello everyone
Phewff! NaPoWriMo is over, and I'll bet some of you won't know what to do with yourselves, not having to write every day! I'm here to help with that, haha. It's come to my attention that I have a decent amount of points just sitting around waiting to be used (or given!) With that in mind, I'm going to hold another contest! The last one went so well, I'm really pumped up for this one! Woo! So exciting! (So many exclamation points!)
Welcome to my Quickfire Wordcloud Contest!
This is intended to be a short and sweet contest with some nice point prizes.
THE RULES:
Below the rules you will find a list of words. Use at least SIX of these words to craft an amazing piece of poetry or prose! The six words you choose MUST be used in the body of your entry, titles don't count! Make sure you list the words that you've chosen in the description of your deviation.
